Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with community service. The first time, he was raised by Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie. They lived on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. In football, he played alongside three brothers in Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the USA. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home 2 national titles. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during college. He moved to Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he became the as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
