Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She is the co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist television host, and proprietor of the liberally independent online news magazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family when she was 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. In the beginning, as the only non-English student to graduate, she was voted the president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. The years that followed the graduation ceremony, she became an influential conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. Her site was able to bring in numerous prominent contributors who shared their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to candidly run as an independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. In addition to this she also led the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential women in media gaining 12th position in the listing and the following year Guardian placed her in their top 100 list of media. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media division, which contained many existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was a management advisor and journalist. While she enjoyed a strong relation to her parents and father, it was their relationship which helped mold her. As early as her childhood she showed the leadership abilities for which she is well-known. In her 16th year she started her studies with Cambridge, United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with a Master's Degree in Economics. She was a journalist television host, as well as a columnist following her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She began writing books, taking his help in editing.
