April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among the few women beach volleyball athletes who have achieved this feat. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics, will try to earn her third medal. More than that though Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. Perhaps this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. The athlete is optimistic she can achieve top honors. If we do our top or do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try the opportunity to try my chance. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in the year 1982. Her parents and her sister were residents there. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several activities. She was a basketball player and also ran the track as well as her volleyball skills in the indoors as a pre-collegiate athlete. In her final game she stood out. In her time at high school, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. She was awarded by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017. However, Ross's beach game was well-established long before that. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one partner was a renowned volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years between 2007 and 2013. She also worked with Klineman and herself. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the international arena, taking home the world championship in 2009 with each other. The duo would go on to win a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The pair went on to earn the beach volleyball bronze in the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans during her college days, years before becoming a professional. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her sophomore years, yet she was able to make it an All-American again. Through her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the best female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the US according to the Honda Sports Award. Ross was who was a USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross did not get to witness her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She has kept her mother in her his heart. Margie at the beach as well as in her everyday life, inspires her.
