Rosalia
Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical pop star" due to her many musical styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. The project reinvented flamenco and mingled it with pop and hip-hop music. The singles "Malamente", and "Pienso in tu Mira" have been a huge hit with the Spanish populace and won all-encompassing critical acclaim. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia onto the world stage of music. Rosalia, who explored urbano music in her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", achieved global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022), she introduced reggaeton with an original approach, deviating slightly from the flamenco sound of the first. The album received international attention with its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the top-rated album of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten number one songs throughout her career in her native country. This is the highest number for an artist hailing from the area. She has also won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year wins) and four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the music of today's popular songs with her unique flamenco-infused pop". 18 years ago, she was also the first singer from a Spanish group to be recognized as the Best New Artist at the Grammys.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the eldest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a small metalworking company. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They split in 2019. [23] She has an older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) and works alongside Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia expressed interest in the performing arts at an early age, and particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She started her musical education in Taller de Musics. She completed a six-year course in the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school, later transfering to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Additionally, she performed on her own as a singer for weddings, bars for music and other functions. The pay was "a little over 80 euro or in exchange for dinner". In that period, Rosalia met many underground Spanish performers who were to succeed, such as La Zowi, Yung Beef, Kaydy Cain, Hinds and Maria Escarmiento
